bear working….

Bear and MelonsNoooo,  that’s not Winnie the Pooh.   I carved this back when bears were so popular.  I love red,  thought red & white would go with the melons.   THEN everyone told me it looked like the Pooh bear.  Darn it.  It’s a PJ bear.  Anyway,  he kept dropping the wheelbarrow, I kept gluing….  soon I was super glued to him and the wheelbarrow… and a nice time was had by all.  xx PJ  Soon I will be over this flu,  and producing some new folk art… any day now… hopefully… or I will go crazy… for sure….

a primitive painting in my past…

10/29/2009 · Comments Off

Peaceable KingdomThis one I did in 97.  I have been busy…  I think it was Hicks that gave me the inspiration for this one.  His work has always been my idea of the best.  He painted so many different scenes,  all the Peaceable Kingdom.  I intended to paint just the cheetha,  but never got around to it.  This one and the other Peaceable Kingdom I showed yesterday sold before I really got to show them off.  So all these years later… I’m getting the chance.  I love the internet! xx PJ  Folk Art will enrich you life….

more memory lane…

10/28/2009 · Comments Off

Garden of EdenI can’t remember the name of the artist that inspired me to paint this one.  He was from the early 1800′s  I think.   I used his composition,  then added my own style/ideas.  Which is OK if the artist is DEAD.  I love those trees.  I’ve seen similar ones in photos from Africa.  Folk Art will make you happy. xx PJ

These are my first paper mache,  ever.  Can’t tell you how much I loved doing these.  No pain.  I can work with both hands, 90 miles an hour.  So much fun.  I think I have 3 more in front of fans.  Now you know what I’ve been up to while you’ve been looking at Memory Lane stuff. :)

The details will be on the gallery online page later today.  Thanks for looking! ….PJ

Texas, Our Texas….

10/25/2009 · 4 Comments

Texas, Our TexasIf you’re born in Texas,  you’ll get this one.  If you don’t… just know that we can’t help ourselves.  When you’re born here,  they roll ya over and stamp ‘Texas Pride’ on your butt.  It never goes away.  Follows you everywhere.  LOL   This is from several years ago.  I carved it from redwood.  I still hear that state song in my head,  from learning it in school.  Did you have to learn your state song?  ~PJ

Quiltin’ B

10/24/2009 · 6 Comments

quilting BI remember this one being so hard to photograph.  Looked good from too many angles.  Everything is carved except the ball.  Even the baby’s bottle.  The quilt was painted on canvas,  then wrapped on the quilting frame.  The ladies needles are the end of wire nails.  Can’t see it in this photograph,  but the floor is carved and grain painted.  This took a lot of time,  but I really enjoyed doing it.  xx PJ

Goin’ to market…

10/23/2009 · Comments Off

Going to Market

If he can ever get that pig goin’ straight down the road,  instead of circling every tree they come to… that pig’s going to market.  He’s just got to have that new bicycle… that red one.  Just gotta have it… darn pig.

This is from several years back.  You turn the wheel,  and he’ll chase that pig.  It was fun to do.  Only took a bottle of wine to figure out how to make it work… that’s called engineering… xx PJ

it was a blue dog I’m telling you…

Blue Dog

Blue polka dots… well,  it was a strange week.  But when he was all done,  I fell in love.  He made me smile.  And then he made someone else smile…  then the little toot went home with her.  Beware,  blue dogs are not loyal.  They’ll go for a red head every time….  Folk Art can help you find love…. xo PJ
