Yep, I’ve added a new page. This place is growing by leaps and bounds. I’m not good at explaining how I do folk art, so I thought I’d show you from time to time.
http://pjhornberger.com/tutorials/ Check out the new page. I’m not finished with the flying pig, but I thought you might be interested in her as a WIP. She’s a fat thing…
Of coarse I won’t be showing EVERYTHING I make. But from time to time I hope to share some details that might interest you. You know, folk art makes you such a popular person…. xoxo PJ

Her name is ‘Precious’. She’s a doll/sculpture, hangs on the wall. No clothes. She didn’t think she needed any. She likes to be dramatic, always. Loves her new hairdo. Red’s always been her favorite color. That’s why her shoes are red & shiny. She just adores shiny shoes.
This is not for a child. It is not a toy. It’s art to hang on the wall…. and to make you smile…
All the details will be on the Folk Art Gallery Online page. xoxo PJ

Building this one… reminds me when I did dolls years ago. Body parts laying everywhere. I love paper mache…

Herbert, that wonder dog.

Shirley always has something to say about everything…. always….

Sign improvements… by Richard

paper mache birds…
As you can see, I’m breaking in a new camera. Way too many directions in that book. I’m going to pretend I know what I’m doing, and skip that heavy duty reading. Not required. Have a good week! xx PJ

Noooo, that’s not Winnie the Pooh. I carved this back when bears were so popular. I love red, thought red & white would go with the melons. THEN everyone told me it looked like the Pooh bear. Darn it. It’s a PJ bear. Anyway, he kept dropping the wheelbarrow, I kept gluing…. soon I was super glued to him and the wheelbarrow… and a nice time was had by all. xx PJ Soon I will be over this flu, and producing some new folk art… any day now… hopefully… or I will go crazy… for sure….

it’s all he ever wanted….

just one shot….
These are my first paper mache, ever. Can’t tell you how much I loved doing these. No pain. I can work with both hands, 90 miles an hour. So much fun. I think I have 3 more in front of fans. Now you know what I’ve been up to while you’ve been looking at Memory Lane stuff.
The details will be on the gallery online page later today. Thanks for looking! ….PJ

If you’re born in Texas, you’ll get this one. If you don’t… just know that we can’t help ourselves. When you’re born here, they roll ya over and stamp ‘Texas Pride’ on your butt. It never goes away. Follows you everywhere. LOL This is from several years ago. I carved it from redwood. I still hear that state song in my head, from learning it in school. Did you have to learn your state song? ~PJ

I remember this one being so hard to photograph. Looked good from too many angles. Everything is carved except the ball. Even the baby’s bottle. The quilt was painted on canvas, then wrapped on the quilting frame. The ladies needles are the end of wire nails. Can’t see it in this photograph, but the floor is carved and grain painted. This took a lot of time, but I really enjoyed doing it. xx PJ

These guys were fun. They were in a magazine. You could say they got around. Didn’t matter where you put them, they got attention. I have a few I kept for my collection… wish I had kept more. But you know how men are… you can’t have ‘em all. Yep, I carved all of them out of redwood. Use to love to carve that stuff. Folk art will make you smile…. xo PJ
