I got to paint some today. Made me very happy! Some how, I ended up starting 4 paintings at one time. I may be going crazy or something…. 3 are very funny cat paintings. I have one almost finished. Got a bird on his head… a strange bird for a strange cat.
These are all small paintings. Then I’ve started a flower something or other. I think it might be a still life? Never know what to call my paintings. Folk art is always safe… after that… I have no idea.
I’m now going to be a happier camper. It’s been hot here for the last couple of days. Or hot in my house. Not a good thing for asthma. Asthma can be very picky about the weather… and a lot of other stuff.
But the REPAIR MAN from heaven came today. He declared the air is fixed! Yea! Have no idea what the bill is going to say, but right now I just don’t care. I can breathe! So that means I can paint! Yea! And that means PJ won’t be a cranky artiste`…. Ha! Ok, ok, not as cranky….
Did I tell yall that I’m doing commissions? All those details are on the Commission page at the top. Email your idea to me, and we’ll see what we can do.
Yall have a fun day tomorrow. And check back to see if I finished any of those cats. xo PJ

This isn’t the greatest photo. I had to take it with my small camera. The other one decided it’s battery was tired. I hate when that happens.
This is that cute family that I’ve been doing the portrait for. I’ve taken way too long to do it. Stuff just kept getting in my way. Right now it has the first coat of varnish waiting to dry. I’m hoping to have it ready to hang this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed….

Guess what I did today? Yes, I’m still dancing…. but…. I painted, I sketched, I got paint on me. Then I did it some more. It felt soooo gooood!
I worked on a commission that I shoulda already finished. But my life got in my way. Those very nice people have not complained one time. They are the best.
Today was a really good day. The sun was shining, and I just couldn’t stop grinning. Shirley snored through my great mood. Didn’t expect anything else from her.
Back to the commission painting. It’s a family portrait. It’s gonna be sooo fun. It’s got everybody in it, then I added some more. Ha! It is so busy, can’t wait to slap more paint on it tomorrow. Here’s a sneak peak….

I’ll show the finished painting after……

This is the one of the first chickens I carved. Must of been 25 or more years ago. She’s sitting in the bottom part of a nail keg. Took me forever to carve. Had to distress her, so the woman buying her would know she was carved from wood. A cranky old woman.
I did more of these, not this big, put them in wash pans. I always had a pet chicken when I was a kid. Come to think of it, I still do. Does that mean I’m still a kid? xx PJ

Yes, those fish are definitely puckered up. They are that kind of fish. All yeller fish do that. They can’t help theirselves. It’s in their jeans genes…
I know you think you’ve seen that blue barn before… but not so. You saw a similar blue barn that now lives in Brenham in a beautiful house. This one is merely similar, because a dear woman cried in the gallery because the 1st blue barn was sold. Well, maybe there weren’t real tears, but she was upset. Truly. So this is her chance to get her very own blue barn. and so on and so on….
Yes, the rumor is true. I’m going to do commissions. I said I wouldn’t, and I lied. Have a great day!
All important details are on the other pages. This one is my diary, where I get to tell big lies, show off, and whatever thrills me at the moment. xo PJ

This is my 1st family portrait folk art painting. It’s the one I’ve been talking about. It was so much fun for me to do. This family always seems to have a smile on their faces, so I had to show some teeth! It’s on stretched canvas, with a deep board frame. The pointy things are for fun, with old buttons. It’s definitely mixed media. I used every kind of paint, pen, pencil, that I have. Just wanted to show it off before I ship it. Over all it’s 24×30. The right size to fit anywhere. Have a great day, and thanks for looking at my art. xxPJ

While waiting for paint to dry…. I got tired of holding the blow dryer. So I picked up a paint brush… Well 5 paintings later I have 6 WIP. Oh, my. I may be a tad obsessive. Or hyper. No longer bored, that’s for sure.
So now there’s all different sizes of paintings everywhere…. drying ever so slowly. I will NOT start #7. You can quote me on that. I shall finish these in this life time…. hopefully this week. I have plans for next week.
And the saga continues….. xoxo PJ

It’s raining here, thank the Lord. Very slow, just perfect. But that also means paint dries very slow. Even acrylics. So I’m painting a little, turn the fan on, painting some more, trying the blow dryer. I have a dehumidifier, but it makes noise. I’m not in the mood for noise.
I’m working on that commission I’ve been talking about. A family of four. Such a nice family. I want to do them justice. The cutest two girls. They’ve been buying my art since before they had those cute girls. I’m lucky that I’ve had repeat customers for years. They make you want to do your best every day.
Gotta go see if the paints dry enough. I’m very bad about getting in a hurry, putting my hand right in the wet spot. Then I spend an hour or two trying to fix it. I love to work fast. That’s when I do my best work. So many artists spend lots of time admiring it, studying it. That always makes me laugh. It works for them. If I did that, I’d decide I didn’t like it, and throw it away. Ha! xoxo PJ

Oh, my gosh! Did I get work done today or what! I finished 3 fish (wall hangings), a lamp, and more row houses. Just hung everything in the gallery. The light’s not right to photograph, so I’ll wait until tomorrow or the next day. Can’t wait to take new photos of the gallery. It is FULL! I love it when I have to hunt some where to hang one more thing. Makes me smile. Now I need to work on sculptors/shrines/folk art lamps, but I have a commission to work on first. Some very nice folks are trusting me to do a family portrait for them. They have a nice collection of my work, so they know my style. It thrills me that they trust me to try this. It’ll be my first. Wish me luck.
It rained in Carmine off and on today. Not a lot, but enough to cool things down a bit. Herbert (Chihuahua) and I went for a walk in it. Of coarse he had to shake every third step, but we made it. Felt really good not to be dry and dusty. We’re trying to house train the little stinker. He is paper trained, kinda. Now he’s practicing on the Stop sign at the end of the street. Yes, we get some funny looks. I think we need a Stop sign in our yard… but Herbert’s partial to the one at the end of the block…. xoxo PJ
