Moving slow this morning. I have a cold in July. I’m whiney, sleepy, and seriously attached to my gown…. ok, that’s enough of that…
Do you like old movies? I like old scary movies. It it’s got a werewolf, Frankenstein, my favorite Godzilla, I’m in love. Then there’s Sinbad, and all those monsters. I love Sinbad! I wanted to be Tarzan so bad. No, not Jane. All she did was put her hand ever so daintily to her mouth, and scream bloody murder. And faint… she fainted a lot. I wanted that monkey. Those elephants, I coulda called the elephants. The natives & I would have been big friends.
Ordered the Lone Ranger from Netflix. Yuck. It wasn’t an old one. It started when he & Tonto were kids. If I had watched that, it would have ruined my memories of the REAL Lone Ranger & Tonto. Everybody knows they were never kids.
So instead, we watched Godzilla & Raymond Burr. Ha! Not kidding. Made in 1956. Of course he thought he was in court, not a reporter. But it was really good. The plus was ol’Ted hadn’t got a hold of it… it was still in B&W.
Then for dessert we watched Godzilla vs. the Thing. It had the two tiny girls that speak together, with the fuzzy hats. It was made in Japan. I always root for Godzilla. Doesn’t matter if he’s tearing up the city. He’s terribly misunderstood.
I could watch Sinbad movies all day. Those monsters are so cool. Old Zorro movies are hard to find. They were great. Anything Lon Chaney was in was good. Or Boris Karloff. He had that great face and voice.
Now I’m in love with the new Alice. Didn’t see it at the theatre, which will be the biggest disappointment in my life.
Well, close to it. But I’ve watched it twice on TV. It just gets better. The way they blended the animation and the actors… well… it’s impressive. Gotta get the DVD.
Last night, while I couldn’t sleep (which happens often)… I came up with a new one. Sayings, I love sayings. Quote sounds entirely too important. I do sayings. Here goes… Critics know a little bit about a lot of subjects, but not a lot about anything. (PJ said it)
Did I tell you? I sold my first piece of art on PJ Hornberger Folk Art. Sold it to a woman who’s Mother use to buy my art so many years ago. Now if that’s not a huge compliment, I don’t know what is. Thrilled me to death… well, not quite.
But you know what I mean.
Put these on PJ Hornberger Folk Art last night. When you have time, take a peek.
Libby & Zelda will be happy to see you!

OK, I admit it. I’m tired of doing fish…
They’re laying everywhere… waiting for me to give them some attention. They will be there when I’m back in the fish mood.
I’ve been having a fit to work on these. The small head is a reworked piece. Love how it looks. Of coarse it really could use some ears. Some how I forgot that small detail. That will be fixed tomorrow. Then the huge head is a reworked piece also. Several years ago I did several busts. I loved all of them. The black people are the only ones that sold. So I’ve been looking at these two pale faces for too long.
Got them ready for clay tomorrow. I can’t wait! I’m so excited! Going to add some things to the small one. More detail on her face…. like ears. Then the larger one needs lots of work.
I carved by hand for so long today, that I’ve got a blister. I had to remove clay to get them the size I wanted. Especially the larger one. I love knife carving. I’m over carving with power tools. Too much sawdust, and too hard on my shoulder. But give me a carving knife, or a really good pocket knife… and I’m happy.
Just thought you might enjoy watching the progress on these two. I think it’s fun sometimes to see how a piece evolves. Makes me realize just how much work an artist puts into a piece.
Almost forgot! I have Halloween ornaments on eBay. They’re listed under: Art, direct from artist, folk art and primitives. PJ Hornberger Halloween Ornaments. That should help you find them. hugs, PJ

As you can see, these 3 have a lot to say…. always. Pinky, not so much. She knows she looks good. Those other two are in to everything, and proud of it.

I kept looking at this girl… thinking something was missing. Well, of coarse. I had forgotten to shade her. She looks much better now that she’s had a touch up. Some days, it just works that way…

My version of a very long neck… very simple, color jumps at you.

It’s the arms… hands… I love those…

The paint has been a flying… Lots of texture on the last two. Those are on board, the flower is on a deep canvas. Did I mention I’m having fun? Wish someone would sneak in and cook supper… all I want to do is PAINT! Have a great weekend. Share a smile with some one. xoxo PJ

This purse has got a ways to go before it’s finished. But I’m liking the dog so much, I had to show him too. The B&W check is going to be the lining. Kinda wild, huh? So far, I’ll working on this one while I wait for paint to dry on the fish purse. I can’t just sit still. Drives me crazy. I’m making these up as I go along. Yes, I had a pattern, but I can not stick to those things. Gotta do it my way. Which drives some folks crazy. A friend… former acquaintance use to say.. “PJ you always have to do it your way”. Well, I’d hope so, it’s my life, my art. Why would I want her to screw it up? LOL… Makes me giggle just thinking about it….

This one has beads, lots of metallic threads, buttons. I’m really liking this one. Got a crazy idea for the edge. Hope it does what I want it to do. It won’t break my heart if it doesn’t. That’ll just head me in a different direction. The shiny threads and beads didn’t show up well in this photo. But they sparkle in the light. Very fun. I still haven’t started the shoulder strap. Hope to get that done tomorrow.
I think I’m going to put the same b&w check lining in this one also. Love that fabric… it’ll pop when you open the purse. Yes, I am having fun. The flu/plague interrupted for a few days, but I got lots of beading/painting done today.
Hope I have lots to show you tomorrow. Have a great Sunday. Feed the birds, it makes them happy. xo PJ

Is she gorgeous, or what? Meg Mitchell of Priscillamae.etsy.com and Priscillamaeetal blog does these lovely ladies of Paris. Each one has her own personality… very glamorous of course. This is a tote, but she wants to lay on the divan… so she may have to pose there often.
Sorry for the horrible background. I know it doesn’t do her justice. I was lazy and didn’t want to rearrange a wall. But she does look good anywhere she chooses to rest.
Go visit Meg and get your sweet self a present. You probably need and deserve one. I know I did.

Finished these last night. They do have an attitude. They’ll be on the Online art gallery page in just a sec. and probably on Etsy too. Gotta get my act together to get all this stuff done. My purse is waiting for me. It’s calling my name. Gotta make an ugly purse….

Leona has her very own pet bird…. don’t know what kind it is, but she does love those hot pink feathers on it’s head. Gotta be thinkin’ of a name for that bird… something real different like… Vernell. What do you think? Is that a folk art primitive painting or what?

the men in my life…. I carved these many many years ago… true primitives. The two shorter ones are the very first ones I carved. So glad I kept them. The white guy has fallen over so many times, he’s broken his bat brim off. Oh well, he don’t care. Those two and the one with the tall hat are my favorites. Folk art talks to you. It always has a story.
Tomorrow’s Friday. Get yourself tuned up for the weekend. Try to keep it fun and legal. LOL

A very fun heart…. and a folk art portrait of Sally, that red head. That hair is everywhere. She just loves it. It’s her calling card. They always know when Sally is there… the party has arrived!
