I love Buster, Bonita, & Blue. I’ll have to tell you the story on Buster and Bonita some time. It’s true, and it’s sooo funny.
The 3 cats are fun… they stay in trouble but are the best of friends. Can’t seperate them.
Crows & Moons… I can’t get enough of them. 3rd time I’ve used this idea, and it always comes out different. I really like this one. Smilin’ moon, now that’s the best.
All of these and more are on my new website. Click my name and it’ll magically take you there… or something like that.

PJ Hornberger Folk Art…PFATT Marketplace
07/13/2010 · 2 Comments
Yesterday I worked on a new painting. 3 cats posing for their portrait. I hope to finish it today. Did you get a chance to check out the Black Cat Rattle I have on PFATT Marketplace? He’s really cute, has a nice smile. Also, there’s lots of other good art on there. I’m enjoying having my art on PFATT. They make it easy for me, and are very professional. So check them out.
My new website, PJ Hornberger Folk Art is my pride & joy. It’s what I’ve wanted for years. It has different pages for different mediums. Pay Now buttons, so you don’t have to email me. Makes shopping much easier, faster. And I did it myself! That’s the best part. So I can update/change it as I want. Not have to wait for someone else to have the time to do it. Makes me very happy. I hope you’re liking it also. If you have any suggestions how I could make it better, please leave a comment here. I’m still in the building stage on it, and welcome input.
Everyone is complaining about the heat? Not me! Last summer we did over 100 for over 45 days in a row. So far, here, we haven’t hit 100. We’ve had plenty of rain also. No, not bragging…. just very thankful. We complain way too much. Need to practice being thankful. It would make for a much better day. (big grin) xo PJ

Part of a painting I’m working on. Moses Parting the Sea. I’ve painted this idea a couple of times, but it always comes out different, making each one an original. I saw one similar by an artist from the 1800′s. Now I can’t remember the name, or where I saw it.
I wouldn’t consider painting a living/contemporary artist’s work. That is totally wrong. But occasionally I have used a well known artist from the past. It ends up looking like my work. I’m not good at copying/reproducing someone else’s art. I have my own look, my way of seeing it. Copying isn’t art, it’s craftmanship. And tacky.
The biggest challenge in art is coming up with the idea, a good idea. It’s a creative process. It’s hard work. Sometimes it comes to you easily, like a wonderful present, with a pretty bow. That does not happen often. There are those funky spaces of time that you’re convinced you were just lucky. It’s gone, never to return. Every artist has experienced it, doesn’t matter what your medium is. It’s not fun. You never know how long it will last… you start to doubt yourself…
Then again there are the fun times when ideas are coming at you from everywhere. You can’t sleep because you’re doing art in your head. Can’t turn it off. I always want to work faster so I can get to more of the ideas.
Don’t want to take time to do anything but art. Can’t be bothered by that everyday stuff. Ha! I don’t take time for lunch… I eat while I paint or sand or sculpt or sketch. I live in paint clothes, and resent it if I have to change to look like everyone else. Who cares anyway?
I’m always suspicious of a so-called “artist” that has combed hair, clean clothes, or jewelry on. Oh, sure they’re an artist….
Go see what this artist has been doing… PJ Hornberger Folk Art Have a great weekend! Do something fun… share a smile with someone… a compliment would be nice too. Doesn’t cost a thing, but is worth a lot. xo

Moving slow this morning. I have a cold in July. I’m whiney, sleepy, and seriously attached to my gown…. ok, that’s enough of that…
Do you like old movies? I like old scary movies. It it’s got a werewolf, Frankenstein, my favorite Godzilla, I’m in love. Then there’s Sinbad, and all those monsters. I love Sinbad! I wanted to be Tarzan so bad. No, not Jane. All she did was put her hand ever so daintily to her mouth, and scream bloody murder. And faint… she fainted a lot. I wanted that monkey. Those elephants, I coulda called the elephants. The natives & I would have been big friends.
Ordered the Lone Ranger from Netflix. Yuck. It wasn’t an old one. It started when he & Tonto were kids. If I had watched that, it would have ruined my memories of the REAL Lone Ranger & Tonto. Everybody knows they were never kids.
So instead, we watched Godzilla & Raymond Burr. Ha! Not kidding. Made in 1956. Of course he thought he was in court, not a reporter. But it was really good. The plus was ol’Ted hadn’t got a hold of it… it was still in B&W.
Then for dessert we watched Godzilla vs. the Thing. It had the two tiny girls that speak together, with the fuzzy hats. It was made in Japan. I always root for Godzilla. Doesn’t matter if he’s tearing up the city. He’s terribly misunderstood.
I could watch Sinbad movies all day. Those monsters are so cool. Old Zorro movies are hard to find. They were great. Anything Lon Chaney was in was good. Or Boris Karloff. He had that great face and voice.
Now I’m in love with the new Alice. Didn’t see it at the theatre, which will be the biggest disappointment in my life.
Well, close to it. But I’ve watched it twice on TV. It just gets better. The way they blended the animation and the actors… well… it’s impressive. Gotta get the DVD.
Last night, while I couldn’t sleep (which happens often)… I came up with a new one. Sayings, I love sayings. Quote sounds entirely too important. I do sayings. Here goes… Critics know a little bit about a lot of subjects, but not a lot about anything. (PJ said it)
Did I tell you? I sold my first piece of art on PJ Hornberger Folk Art. Sold it to a woman who’s Mother use to buy my art so many years ago. Now if that’s not a huge compliment, I don’t know what is. Thrilled me to death… well, not quite.
But you know what I mean.
Put these on PJ Hornberger Folk Art last night. When you have time, take a peek.
Libby & Zelda will be happy to see you!

primitive paintings….

WIP’s I’ve got to show somebody the progress I’m making on these 3 paintings.

It’s been raining all day, the humidity has to be 110%. I finally had to turn on the dehumidifer. That thing is the best. It’ll get the studio dry enough it’s hard to blink.

Studio work…
07/01/2010 · Comments Off

That’ll give you a small idea of what I’ve been doing. Since I have been working in clay, my studio was upside down. I usually don’t let it get in that bad of shape. I like organization. Not to the extreme, but enough where I know where things are suppose to be. That allows me to keep the creativity going. My mind on art. And able to work fast, which makes me happy.
So the first half hour was putting everything and everybody in their place. Then go thru my canvas stash. Pick out random sizes. Haven’t decided exactly what I want to paint. I did do some fast sketches at 3am this morning. So I do have a plan, but not going to share it in case I change my mind.
As a friend said, ya gotta follow your muse. Lately mine has been hyperactive…. going in so many directions. Not complaining… it’s been fun.
Got a quick slap of gesso on several canvases…. fans going…. might sneak a nap. Herbert (that Chihuahua) is always up for a nap.
You can actually shop on my new online website/gallery PJ Hornberger Folk Art. Take a look around.
