Yes, I’m still thinking. This seems to be a really slow exercise for me. Takes lots of naps… I’ll have an update soon…. right after a nap….

Antiqueing in Texas this week?
03/29/2010 · 1 Comment
I almost forgot! If you’re in Fayette Co. Texas at the antique shows this week, stop by Johnson & Barrett. It’s a great shop, located at the Village Green shops in Round Top…. hwy. 237 - 2 blocks off the square. They’re showing my folk art.
At my gallery in Carmine, I’m under construction. So I’m so happy Molly & Robert are showing my folk art at their shop. They’ll also be doing the Big Red Barn show that starts this Wednesday. Their booth is on the back wall to the left. Check out their great antiques.
The weather here is perfect for trapesing thru the cow pastures, old saloons, dance halls hunting for those bargains. You don’t wanna miss the fun! xo

Some things from my collection of folk art. The only piece that’s mine is the moon on the fridge. The bottle cap mirror frame is a favorite. It hangs out in the bathroom with some pigs. Shane Campbell’s crows look really nice with my moon. He does fun things. later…

Waiting…

Just hanging around, trying to be good, taking all that medication, wishing all the dust in the world would go away. Asthma is not fun. I’ve decided I don’t want it anymore. Nada. I’m canceling my subscription. Roll me over, I am done.
So today I finally got to watch a video I had downloaded. A class on painting with thread/free motion quilting. Can’t remember the womans name right this minute. But she’s really good at what she does. And I was able to watch the entire thing without getting crazy. (I get bored fast) Now I can’t wait to try some of it.
But that’ll have to wait until I get a couple of commissions finished. I’m way behind on those…. and it’s driving me crazy. I’m hoping by next week I’ll be back in the studio, working like crazy to make up sitting and watching reruns on Law & Order.
Today I did update my Etsy store. pjsfolkart.etsy.com I’ve wanted to get some hearts on there. Hearts seem to be my favorite lately. I’d like to do a whole wall of them. Wouldn’t that be cool? From heart shrines to paintings, to fabric, to clay, to…. whatever else pops up.
Ya’ll have a great weekend. I’m going to have a lazy one. Try my best not to talk too much.
Well, that I may have to cross my fingers on. xx

a primitive painting in my past…

This one I did in 97. I have been busy… I think it was Hicks that gave me the inspiration for this one. His work has always been my idea of the best. He painted so many different scenes, all the Peaceable Kingdom. I intended to paint just the cheetha, but never got around to it. This one and the other Peaceable Kingdom I showed yesterday sold before I really got to show them off. So all these years later… I’m getting the chance. I love the internet! xx PJ Folk Art will enrich you life….

Texas, Our Texas….

If you’re born in Texas, you’ll get this one. If you don’t… just know that we can’t help ourselves. When you’re born here, they roll ya over and stamp ‘Texas Pride’ on your butt. It never goes away. Follows you everywhere. LOL This is from several years ago. I carved it from redwood. I still hear that state song in my head, from learning it in school. Did you have to learn your state song? ~PJ

Quiltin’ B
10/24/2009 · 6 Comments
I remember this one being so hard to photograph. Looked good from too many angles. Everything is carved except the ball. Even the baby’s bottle. The quilt was painted on canvas, then wrapped on the quilting frame. The ladies needles are the end of wire nails. Can’t see it in this photograph, but the floor is carved and grain painted. This took a lot of time, but I really enjoyed doing it. xx PJ

PJ Hornberger Folk Art Gallery in Texas

Just had to show you what my husband did yesterday. He did this bicycle arbor for me. I wanted something funky, so we found the bike, and Richard did it just like I wanted it. Even to painting the yellow brick road. The sun was too bright to shoot photos this morning, but I couldn’t wait! The yellow brick road is much brighter than this photo. I think I’ll grow a vine on the poles. Something that stays green all year. Isn’t it fun? Makes me smile…. My little gallery is on a major hwy. so maybe it’ll give people traveling a giggle. xo PJ
